What we collect, and where it goes

Short version: we keep only what you type into the contact form, donations are handled by Stripe on Stripe's own secure page, and nothing about you is ever sold or shared.

The contact form

When you fill out our contact form we collect your name, your email address or phone number, how you'd like us to reply, and your message. That's it. There is no account to create and nothing else is gathered in the background.

Your message is delivered straight to Janell's email inbox and is not stored on this website. We don't use a form-builder service that would keep your words in its database; the one service involved is Resend, which carries the email to Janell the way a mail carrier carries a letter, over an encrypted connection.

Donations

When you give online, checkout happens on Stripe's secure payment page — not on this website. Stripe collects your name, email address, and card details to process the gift; your card number never touches this site and we never see or store it. Stripe is one of the largest payment processors in the world and handles your card under its own privacy policy.

What we receive back is your name, email, and the amount — enough to thank you and answer questions about your gift, nothing more. For monthly gifts, Stripe keeps your payment method on file so the gift recurs; you can change or cancel anytime by emailing jbythewell@gmail.com, and we'll confirm when it's done.

What we do with it

We use it to reply to you, the way you asked us to. That's the only reason we have it.

We never sell your information, and we never share it with other organizations, advertisers, or mailing lists. We will not add you to any list you didn't ask to join.

The one exception is safety: if we genuinely believe someone is in immediate danger, we may contact emergency services. We would rather you know that up front.

If you're in an unsafe situation

The Quick exit button on our contact page leaves the site immediately. But please know it cannot erase your device's browser history — anyone with access to your phone or computer may still be able to see that you visited.

If that's a risk for you, consider using a private or incognito window, a friend's device, or a public library computer. If you need help right now and it's safe to call, dial 911, 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), or the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233.

The services we rely on

Three companies help this site run, and each receives only what it needs to do its one job, always over encrypted connections:

  • Cloudflare hosts and secures the website, and keeps standard server records for security and reliability, the same as any web host.
  • Resend delivers contact-form messages to Janell's inbox.
  • Stripe processes donations on its own secure checkout page.

That's the whole list. No advertisers, no data brokers, no mailing-list companies.

How we protect it

Everything between your device and this site travels encrypted (HTTPS). Messages you send are not stored on the website or its servers — they exist in Janell's inbox and nowhere else. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe, which is certified to the banking industry's highest security standard, so this site never holds anything a card thief could want. Our forms carry abuse protections so they can't be flooded, and access to what you share is limited to Janell and the person who maintains this site — who receives delivery notices, never the contents of your message.

This site doesn't track you

We don't use advertising trackers, and we don't set cookies to follow you around the internet. Stripe's checkout page sets the cookies it needs to process payments securely on its own site.

If that ever changes — for example if we add visitor analytics — we'll say so on this page first.

Children

Our Generation Shift program serves teens aged 13 to 18, and a parent or guardian should be involved when a minor contacts us. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us information, email us and we'll delete it.

Removing your information

You can ask us to delete anything you've sent, at any time, and you don't have to give a reason. Email jbythewell@gmail.com and we'll remove it and confirm when it's done.
